Sarah Harding Fitness Inc.™ was founded by former Cirque du Soleil Acrobat, Sarah Harding Traverso. Sarah is a NPCP Nationally Certified Pilates Instructor, NCAA All-American Stanford Gymnast, and 2x Winner of Ms. Fitness USA®. Sarah's Pilates classes can help clients improve their health, coordination, and posture.
Born and raised in Hawaii, Sarah's passion for healing through the arts & human movement led her from Punahou School in Honolulu, to the Women's Gymnastics Team at Stanford University, and eventually to an international career in professional acrobatics.
Sarah has performed with SeaWorld in San Diego, Tokyo Disney in Japan, and Cirque du Soleil in Montreal and Las Vegas. Earning her Bachelor's Degree in East Asian Studies and Master's Degree in Communication from Stanford, Sarah has a fascination for studying diverse cultures, brain and behavior, and healing through exercise.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, Sarah is offering virtual Pilates classes via Webex and Zoom, in-person outdoor Pilates equipment classes in Saratoga, CA, and online videos for parents on her Asobi Sport Family Fitness™ YouTube Channel.
Pilates, Acupuncture, and Chiropractic Care helped Sarah heal from a stress fracture and joint inflammation in her lower back during her Stanford gymnastics career. As a professional acrobat, Sarah served as a spokesmodel for the National Foundation for Chiropractic Progress.
Sarah won Ms. Fitness USA 2004 & 2006. In 2005, Sarah petitioned past nationals and came in 3rd at Worlds. In 2006, after capturing the national title, Sarah earned 1st Runner Up at Ms. Fitness World.
After giving birth to her first child, she designed a Pilates-inspired movement program for parents focused on improving parents' postural awareness while wearing, breastfeeding, nurturing, and educating their children. Now, in addition to raising her four active children (including identical twins) in Saratoga, CA, Sarah teaches private clients the Joseph Pilates Method and her Asobi Sport™ Family Fitness Program in the Bay Area.
Sarah creatively combines Pilates with postural awareness techniques like the Eric Franklin Method and Yamuna's Body Rolling Program with Sarah's extensive background in the following disciplines: dance, artistic gymnastics, springboard diving, and musical theater.
Fitness is a Feeling and it should feel Good! Creating easeful movement to lubricate the joints can reactivate our brain, release fascia, and lengthen our spine to our full potential. If movement and exercise feel good, we can start developing healthy habits that let our brain crave exercise. We can start yearning for more restorative movement. The result is a chemical release that boosts our energy, optimism, and confidence.
Sarah makes fitness fun, playful, and most importantly accessible! She works with clients privately in their home or hers to customize their fitness routine and encourages a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment.
